Named after our former neighbor, the inspirational Elisabeth Marbury (1856 - 1933), our studio seeks to create a productive and stimulating environment for artists. After spending hundreds of hours in life drawing sessions, we decided to create the studio we would want to draw in. Located in an elegant and intimate space in Gramercy Park, our sessions are small so that each participant has a clear, unobstructed view of the model, while careful attention is paid to lighting and setting so that artists can engage the experience of drawing with a deeper level of focus and attention. Models are given the tools they need to take and maintain visually dynamic poses, and we employ a wide variety of draperies and props to make the studio atmosphere an engaging one. How does it work?
- Book online using our Book A Session page - we will send you a confirmation reply with directions and details.
How long are the sessions and how much do they cost?
Our sessions are two and a half hours long and are $20.
In addition to life drawing, we also offer a series of affordable, skill-building workshops. These workshops will continue to be small and focused on the most efficient and productive teaching of materials and methods, understanding not only the medium itself, but its use and place in the history of art. Artists will have the opportunity to broaden their skills in a range of techniques, such as egg tempera, gilding, silverpoint and more. If there is a skill you would like to develop (or even a workshop you would like to offer) please let us know.
