Named after our former neighbor, the inspirational Elisabeth Marbury (1856 - 1933), we are an arts organization that seeks to create a productive and stimulating environment for artists as well offering a variety of activities and opportunities.
We organize and present exhibitions in a variety of locations, by artists of all career stages. We also welcome submissions. To arrange a portfolio review or discuss a particular exhibition proposal, email us at email@example.com. Check out our Exhibitions page to see work from previous shows.
In addition to life drawing, we also offer a series of skill-building workshops. These workshops are small and focused on the most efficient and productive teaching of materials and methods, understanding not only the medium itself, but its use and place in the history of art. Artists have the opportunity to broaden their skills in a range of techniques, such as tempera, gilding, silverpoint and the materials of drawing. We're open to suggestions, so if there is a skill you would like to develop (or even a workshop you would like to offer) let us know.
After spending hundreds of hours in life drawing sessions, we decided to create the studio we would want to draw in. Located in an elegant and intimate space in Gramercy Park, our sessions are small so that each participant has a clear, unobstructed view of the model, while careful attention is paid to lighting and setting so that artists can engage the experience of drawing with a deeper level of focus and attention. Models are given the tools they need to take and maintain visually dynamic poses, and we employ a wide variety of draperies and props to make the studio atmosphere an engaging one. As space is limited, our current sessions are full, however, we're expanding our schedule and welcome your input as we develop it. If you would like to join us, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us what works for you.
